Modeste Munimi, SVD

 

Modeste is a member of the Congregation of the Divine Word Missionary. He served in parishes in the Archdiocese of Madrid and the Diocese of Huelva in Spain. He was the chaplain for Africans in the Archdiocese of Madrid. Additionally, he served as the parish administrator of Saint Louis des Français in Madrid.
 

Modeste holds a degree in philosophy from Saint Augustine University in Kinshasa and a degree in theology from the Catholic University of East Africa in Kenya. Additionally, he earned a diploma in social communication from Kenya's Tangaza College.

 

He graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism from the Centro Universitario Villanueva. He also earned a master's degree in communication for social change and development from the Complutense University of Madrid. Subsequently, he pursued a PhD in audiovisual communication, advertising, and public relations. He pursued professional communication training during his master's program at the University of San Francisco.

Modeste's career started small, working as a program manager and presenter for a community radio station in Bandundu-Ville, Congo (2003-2004). In 2010, his voice was heard on Vatican Radio during an internship in the Spanish section.

 

Modeste worked as the Divine Word Missionaries' general communications coordinator in Rome from 2014 to 2025. He assumed a more significant position in 2020 when he was appointed director of the communications division at the SVD Generalate. In this position, he was in charge of formulating the congregation's outreach and global communications plan.

 

Modeste also writes books and does research. His publications include “Les radios communautaires. Canaux d'expression pour une information de proximité (2022)” and Comunicar con el Silencio: Paradoja o Realidad (2024).

Among his scholarly contributions are well-known pieces about media and journalism in the DRC, including:

Bellarmin Sisi Kayan

 

Sisi Kayan (Robert-Bellarmin) is a Catholic priest incardinated in the Diocese of Palestrina in Italy, where he has served for the past ten years as Director of the Social Communications Department.
Originally from the Diocese of Idiofa in the Democratic Republic of Congo, he completed his graduate studies in philosophy at the present-day University of Greater Bandundu (Kalonda Campus) and his bachelor’s degree in theology at the same university (Kikwit Saint Cyprien Campus).

After ten years of ministry in his home diocese—where he served, among other roles, as Headmaster of Notre Dame College in Idiofa and as Diocesan Chancellor—he began studies in Communication and Information Sciences at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome. He earned first a Master’s degree (Licence) and then a Doctorate in Institutional Communication. Between the two cycles, he completed a year of specialization at the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri in Columbia, USA. After his doctorate, he earned a Master’s degree in Project Management for International Cooperation and European Projection at ASVi, a School of Social Management and Business based in Rome and London.

Sisi Kayan is a professor at the National Pedagogical University of Kinshasa, the University of Mazenod (also in Kinshasa), and the University of Greater Bandundu (DR Congo), and collaborates with the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross.
He has a passion for building websites and blogs. He is also interested in development issues and currently serves as National Coordinator of the NGO Save the Common Home, a non-governmental organization focused on environmental issues and inspired primarily by Pope Francis’s encyclical Laudato Si’.

He has authored several scientific articles and four major books.
